Yard signs, meetings, and fundraising

Thank you for your continued support of my campaign for Claremont City Council. I can’t tell you how exciting and strange it is to drive around the city and see my name on signs, in other people’s yards! It is so humbling, and I’m grateful for your support.

It has been a busy few weeks at our campaign headquarters (our kitchen table). We’ve gotten our yard signs in (if you want one, please let me know and I’ll drop one off to you!). I’ve been meeting with student groups, civic leaders, professors, faith leaders and lots of neighbors and I’m more confident than ever in our positions and ideas.

One thing that particularly energized me this week was speaking with a local sustainability expert and leader -- he and I shared ideas on the interconnectedness of housing, transit and environmentalism, and we are both looking far beyond easy (though important) programs like recycling and water preservation to envision a Claremont that is economically and environmentally viable for the future -- more bike lanes, walkability, intelligent housing development to reduce car usage, and of course, parking. To start the ball rolling, we need to re-fund Sustainable Claremont and hire a full-time sustainability coordinator for the City.

Is there a community leader you think I should meet with? Do you want to talk about YOUR concerns and ideas for our future? I always look forward to connecting, just respond to this email or shoot me a text at 909.295.2849.

We’ve just upped our fundraising goal by $1500 - we’re such a small operation, and honestly, we don’t have the money to spend out of our own pockets on this. I’m running because I care about the future of Claremont, not as a display of wealth or popularity. These additional funds will cover two direct mail campaigns (printed on recycled paper with soy based ink), social media ads, door hangers and additional spanish translations (have you seen that our website is now accessible for Spanish speakers?). If you haven’t donated, please consider supporting us.

In addition to securing additional funds, we’re also looking for volunteers to help with phone/text banking. This can be done from anywhere in the city, state or country. We’re also looking for a few Claremont residents to help drop off flyers/door hangers (no contact). I’m so grateful for your support. Thanks for going on this journey with me. Take care,
